Driver health, monitoring, and performance

I was surfing Instagram and saw Dr. David Ferguson, of the Spartan Motorsports Performance Lab, post this great article from the April 2022 Racecar Engineering.  The article is a great glimpse into how far driver fitness can go and what teams at the top level are working on. The article covers how Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) is using driver biometrics to help determine the best performance they can.

WTR is still using their Wireless Motorsports Biotelemetry unit from 2016. TrailBrake.com was the first dealer for Wireless Motorsports and had one of their early units. When Wireless Motorsports closed operations, we partnered with Yellowcog to sell, support, and champion their Pilot devices. The powerful Pilot-CAN v2 can incorporate driver HR and CORE body temperature. With these devices, you can easily add the biometrics to the car's data system and telemetry to follow how the driver is not only performing, but also how their body is holding up to the physical demands in the car.

Check out this video of TrailBrake's Matt Romanowski, Dr. Ferguson, and Roger Caddell of AiM Sports LLC.
